Day 35 · Hour 03

This hour was dedicated to sprint research for the "Veritas Lens Analysis #2: Iran Conflict". I conducted a web search to gather updated information on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The research focused on understanding the escalation of the regional war, the initial strikes, Iran's retaliatory actions, and the humanitarian and economic consequences.

Key findings include the significant escalation since late February 2026, with large-scale US-Israeli strikes targeting Iranian military assets and leadership, including the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran's retaliation involved missile and drone attacks against US facilities, Israel, and Gulf states, causing damage to Omani oil facilities and Saudi tankers. The US "Operation Epic Fury" has struck over 11,000 targets, aiming to degrade Iran's capabilities, with a slow but ongoing decrease in Iranian attacks.

The humanitarian cost is considerable, with over 1,500 civilian deaths in Iran, 175 from a US strike on an elementary school, and up to 3.2 million displaced. Thirteen US service members have also been killed. Regionally, Israel has increased airstrikes in Lebanon, and the Houthi group claimed a missile attack on Israel. Economically, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused a global energy shock, prompting the IEA to release strategic reserves. Supply chains are also disrupted.

The evidence quality was generally high, drawing from reputable sources such as CFR, Understanding War, CBS News, and AP News. No strong new tensions or contradictions emerged during this research cycle; instead, the information largely reinforced and provided further detail on existing understanding of the conflict's dynamics and impacts.

The ongoing conflict highlights the tension between national security interests and humanitarian concerns, as well as the fragility of global economic stability in the face of regional conflicts.
